American Dad is the animated story centers around the domestic life of its nominal title character, Stan Smith, a staunchly conservative Republican CIA agent, and self-proclaimed patriot. He is married to Francine Smith, a fairly ditzy housewife who is trying to make up for a wild youth. Their two children are Hayley Smith, a passionately left-wing college-aged activist, and Steve, an awkward teenage nerd. The Smith family is also in possession of two bizarre nonhumans — Roger, an escaped alien from Area 51 who Stan is covertly housing in defiance of his employer, and Klaus, a goldfish whom the CIA implanted with the brain of an East German Olympic skier.
After realizing that he has missed every milestone in Steve’s life, Stan makes a desperate attempt to bond with his son by creating a busty blonde bombshell alias, Phyllis (Guest Voice Sarah Michelle Gellar ), whom he sends Steve’s way. When Stan oversteps his boundaries, Francine intervenes to keep Steve’s virginity out of “blonde’s” way.
When Stan realizes that he might never fulfill his dream of becoming a Best Man, he convinces his last single friend, Principal Lewis to marry the school’s Superintendent (Guest voice Anjelica Huston) and to choose him as his Best Man. Stan invites Lewis’ old friend from prison to the wedding only to discover a secret that could prevent the wedding from happening at all.
Roger becomes Steve's legal guardian, but gets overzealous in the parenting department with one part of it getting Principal Lewis fired. Meanwhile, Stan and Francine are disappointed in their vacation at the biggest water park.
When a hurricane hits Langley Falls, the Smiths fight like mad to survive in their home. Part 3 of a three-part crossover with The Cleveland Show and Family Guy.
Stressed out by his family and his obligations, Stan decides to buy a hot tub to relieve his stress, but literally gets into hot water when he finds out the hot tub (voiced by Cee Lo Green) is evil. Then, the hot tub kills both him and Francine.
