Pokémon is the story of a young boy named Ash Ketchum. Finally having reached the age of 10, he receives his first Pokémon from Professor Oak and sets out on his Pokémon Journey. Along for the ride are his best friends: Misty, Brock, Tracey, May, Max, and Dawn. Together, they journey through the… More Kanto, Orange, Johto, Hoenn, Battle Frontier and Sinnoh Leagues. Ash takes every opportunity to capture a Pokémon, Misty trains Pokémon of the Water type while Brock prefers Rock types.
With all his Pokémon badly injured and in pain after the intense battle against Paul, Ash feels horribly guilty and doubting his future as a Pokémon Trainer sinks into a depression. Dawn, having suffered a crisis of confidence herself once, resolves to help her friend and decides to put on a performance with her Pokémon while Brock goes looking for a berry to help treat Ash's Monferno little realising that he's about to see what dwells below Lake Acuity. Also, Dawn learns that her next contest will be held at Lilypad Town, while Ash recovers from his depression.
Ash and Paul continue their 6-on-6 battle. With both teams fighting extremely hard. With Paul's Magmortar battling Ash's Pikachu. Pikachu gets burned by Magmortar's Flame Body and Ash calls it back to take a rest. Then he calls out Buizel to battle Magmortar. After an extreme battle, Paul calls back Magmortar and uses Urasaring. It defeats Buizel and Staraptor. Ash uses Gliscor and Torterra defeats Gliscor. Pikachu is defeated by Ursaring after Ursaring uses its ability Guts. Ash is left with Chimchar. When Chimchar beat Ursaring, it evolves into Monferno and learns Mach Punch. It battles Electabuzz. Monferno seems to have the upperhand. However, Monferno gets defeated by Electabuzz and Ash loses the battle. Ash picks up Monferno and thanks it for doing a good job. Paul leaves and everyone watches as he leaves.
Ash and his friends are still at Lake Acuity when Paul appears. Ash and him decide to start the battle that was planned 10 days ago. Ash sends out all six of his Pokémon. First Ash started with Buizel and Paul started with his Torterra. Ash, knowing that Buizel is at a disadvantage, calls back Buizel and sends out his Gliscor. Torterra was about to fall, but suddenly Torterra makes a comeback. Ash decided to return Gliscor back. Ash sent Staraptor to battle Torterra but when Staraptor used Brave Bird, Torterra hit Staraptor with Stone Edge. Paul returned Torterra and sent out Weavile. Staraptor tries to attack but always gets hit, but Staraptor still manages to fight. Staraptor's determination leads to a victory. Ash returned back Staraptor and sent out Grotle while Paul sent out Electabuzz. Grotle used Energy Ball while Electabuzz protected itself. Paul returned Electabuzz and sent out Honchkrow. Ash's Grotle loses against Paul's Honchkrow . At the end of the episode Paul sends out his newly evolved Magmortar, after Ash calls out his Pikachu.
While Ash, Dawn, and Brock are taking a train to Lake Acuity, they meet a strange man named Looker, who is trying to distribute luchboxes to the passengers of the train, which he had brought too many of. The group later meets the train's crew and notice the train is operated solely by their Ampharos. The group is impressed by the relation between human and pokémon. However, the train is stopped at a red signal. Curious, Looker decides to investigate. After finding many leads, he soon learns that the ones responsible were Team Galactic!
Pokémon Hunter J arrives in Snowpoint City and targets the legendary Pokémon Regigigas, which is sleeping inside the Snowpoint Temple. After J commands her henchmen to launch an attack, a maiden from the shrine asks Ash and his friends for help. But Ash and the others come too late; Regigigas has been reawakened and starts rampaging. J froze Regirock, Registeel, Regice and Brandon.
