Season 2 Episode 17 – Someday in the Rain
No description yet.
The story revolves around Haruhi Suzumiya, a high school girl obsessed with finding all forms of the extraordinary and supernatural, and Kyon, a cynical classmate who proclaims his non-belief in such matters and narrates the series. After being displeased with the mundane happenings at school and the lack of interesting after-school clubs, she forms her own, the SOS Brigade, to investigate any mysterious happenings, with Kyon forcibly drafted as its second member. On April 3, 2009, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya began re-airing on Japanese television networks. However, whereas the original airing comprised only fourteen episodes, the re-airing is scheduled to include twenty-eight episodes, including fourteen episodes of original content sometimes referred to as the second season. All episodes are being aired in chronological order, resulting in alternating old and new episodes.
Deciding Yuki needs a familiar for her role, Haruhi picks up a stray cat and names it Shamisen. However, when Haruhi leaves that day, Shamisen starts talking as a result of Haruhi's powers. Itsuki suggests that they need to remind Haruhi her movie is a work of fiction, before reality takes any more damage.
As the SOS Brigade shoot more of their film, Haruhi tries to give Mikuru another contact, ergo another superpower. Yuki quickly takes action and injects her with more nanomachines before any damage could be done. Despite the weird phenomena Haruhi's film is causing, Itsuki suggests it is better than more closed spaces being opened up. However, when Kyon discovers Haruhi arranged for Mikuru to be drugged for a kiss scene with Itsuki, he gets furious at her shabby treatment of Mikuru and almost hits her, forcing Itsuki to hold him back. This causes Haruhi to become depressed, having always thought Kyon would support her. Kyon, reluctantly learning something from Taniguchi, later apologises to Haruhi and filming resumes. However, he seems to have inadvertedly encouraged Haruhi even more, making cherry blossoms grow out of season.
The SOS Brigade continue filming the film, though Haruhi is displeased with the battle sequence. Haruhi gets the idea of Mikuru firing a "Mikuru Beam" from her blue-contact lens left eye and inadvertently enables this to actually happen. Yuki is able to protect Kyon from a couple shots of the laser before tackling Mikuru and removing the contact. While Haruhi is helping Mikuru change into a bunny girl outfit, the others discuss the situation. After shooting some more for the rest of the day, Haruhi leaves telling the others to meet up at the same time tomorrow, despite it being a Sunday. Itsuki and Yuki figure out a plan where Yuki injects nanomachines into Mikuru to prevent her from being able to fire more lasers. The next day, Mikuru arrives late after not wanting to come, and Haruhi has asked Taniguchi, Kunikida and Tsuruya to be extras in the film.
Preparation for the SOS Brigade's short film continues, with character roles revealed - Yuki is an evil alien, Koizumi is an esper, and Mikuru is a battle waitress from the future. Mikuru is forced to dress in another embarrassing costume for her role, while Yuki appears as a witch. On the first day of filming, the Brigade film two commercials to advertise their sponsors, Mikuru dressed in her battle costume and then her bunny girl costume, much to her embarrassment. They then film several scenes in a park, Kyon pointing out that Haruhi didn't actually write a script.
Upon the start of a new term, North High School is preparing for the North High Culture Festival. Kyon and Haruhi's class decides to do a questionnaire, though Haruhi does not like that decision and tells Kyon that the SOS Brigade will do something more interesting. After watching a bad film the previous night, Haruhi decides to make a short independent film that has Mikuru and Itsuki as the protagonists, Yuki as the villain and Kyon doing 'menial tasks', including the filming. Kyon and Mikuru accompany Haruhi as she manages to receive an expensive camcorder and airsoft guns for free from shops willing to sponsor the film.
