Ichigo Kurosaki, along with his family, runs a local clinic. Ichigo has the unusual ability to see poltergeists but rather than react with surprise he merely sees it as an annoyance. Ichigo helps those when he cares but can't bring himself to care enough... until one fateful day. A small, mysterious woman appears on duty inside his room, a Soul Reaper known as Rukia. Soon enough Ichigo and Rukia get formal in the oddest of ways and in such untimely matter the losses begin. The Kurosaki family is soon attacked. This leads Ichigo on his first step to accepting the role and responsibility's a Soul Reaper must uphold.
Byakuya and Kenpachi land a devastating blow on Yammy and the two of them continue their battle against each other. However, before they can do anything Yammy gets back up and yells that he will not forgive them. He suddenly begins to grow further in size, greatly altering his appearance.
Ichigo and Unohana are standing in front of Mayuri's Garganta. The captain spares them the lengthy explanations and simply states if they make it to the other side they'll be in the Human World.
Ichigo wakes up and finds himself in a place resembling the deserts of Hueco Mundo, he is also dressed in an ambiguously Middle Eastern fashion. Next to him he finds a black cat, resembling Yoruichi's cat form, but the cat doesn't speak and merely meows at Ichigo. Later on he meets with Orihime, Uryū, and Chad next to a bonfire.
After Rukia crashes to the ground, Yammy decides to go and kill the person who defeated Ulquiorra. However, a voice is heard from Rukia's direction and Yammy looks to see who it is. Ichigo is shown standing in front of Rukia, and he tells Yammy that he's gotten much bigger since the last time he saw him.
After a dying Harribel falls into the town below, Mashiro notes that the last Espada has been taken out. Wonderweiss suddenly gets back up and goes to attack Mashiro, but she easily defends herself by kicking Wonderweiss' face, sending him flying across the town.
