Ichigo Kurosaki, along with his family, runs a local clinic. Ichigo has the unusual ability to see poltergeists but rather than react with surprise he merely sees it as an annoyance. Ichigo helps those when he cares but can't bring himself to care enough... until one fateful day. A small, mysterious woman appears on duty inside his room, a Soul Reaper known as Rukia. Soon enough Ichigo and Rukia get formal in the oddest of ways and in such untimely matter the losses begin. The Kurosaki family is soon attacked. This leads Ichigo on his first step to accepting the role and responsibility's a Soul Reaper must uphold.
Ichigo, after being "revived" by both of his sisters, walks outside and wonders where he is. He then realizes that he must be dreaming and "Rukiruki" suddenly appears in front of him. Ichigo greets her and begins to explain about his other dream, but then stops since this is just a dream and doesn't matter.
Yachiru decides to begin the Shinigami Women's Association New Year’s Party and she hands out the monetary gifts for New Year. After everyone gets a card with a picture of an animal on it, Yachiru declares that she'll be handing out the 11th Division's cards as well.
Ichigo asks Isshin what he meant by being able to teach him the Final Getsuga Tenshō here and Isshin explains about how the Dangai Precipice World is an isolated space which is surrounded by numerous stacked-up layers of time's current, resulting in it being a place where the density of time within it is extremely high when compared to other exterior dimensions.
Ichigo puts on his Hollow mask and charges straight for Gin, while keeping mind of his Zanpakutō's ability. Gin tells Ichigo that whatever he's thinking, it's useless and he stretches his Zanpakutō straight towards Ichigo.
Urahara tells Aizen that it has been a long time since they last met and takes note of the extraordinary form Aizen has taken. Aizen states that it's nothing as midway through "evolution" is always ugly.
