Upon the start of a new term, North High School is preparing for the North High Culture Festival. Kyon and Haruhi’s class decides to do a questionnaire, though Haruhi does not like that decision and tells Kyon that the SOS Brigade will do something more interesting. After watching a bad film the previous night, Haruhi decides to make a short independent film that has Mikuru and Itsuki as the protagonists, Yuki as the villain and Kyon doing ‘menial tasks’, including the filming. Kyon and Mikuru accompany Haruhi as she manages to receive an expensive camcorder and airsoft guns for free from shops willing to sponsor the film.
